“Home Sweet Home”
I stayed in Uzice, Serbia on a two month backpacking trip. We only stayed a few nights but it was enough to know that we’re certainly coming back! Eco Hostel Republik isn’t just a hostel, but a home. Call it cheesy, but it was one of my favourite places on the two month journey simply because I could take a warm shower, cook my own fresh food AND because the staff and volunteers were absolutely wonderful. Marko the owner will ensure that you have a fun packed day every single day you’re there.

“Great Hostel and People”
My three friends and I visited the second weekend in June. Everyone who worked at the hostel was kind and helpful. Marko provided a fun and interesting tour around Užice. Irena was so helpful and fun to hang out with. The rooms are exactly as described and, along with the rest of the hostel, are clean and comfortable. The terrace at the hostel is especially nice to hang out in. We had such a good time that we are trying to figure out if we can return before we leave Serbia. Very eco-friendly and contemporary. Can’t wait to return!!

The hostel is a really cool, relaxing place. They have a nice sitting area with kitchen; the bathroom is clean, the beds are very comfy. The staff is wonderful, caring a lot. They take you on tours, what is really helpful. The city Uzice itself is ok (much better than Zlatibor!). The hostel is close to the bus/train station; there are shops and restaurants/grills in walking distance.

The hostel is not directly in the center, but given the size of Uzice, it’s very easy to reach by feet the main square. Furthermore, roadsigns and billboards indicate the way to the hostel. Good luck guys ;)”

“Another very enjoyable visit”
This was my second visit to Eco Hostel Republik. The hosts are really friendly and the hostel is very clean. Since my last visit they have added some a few more things to the hostel which make it even better – I really liked the bedside light built into my bed.

There is a good bakery and a few small supermarkets nearby and see if you can find ‘kod Mife’ restaurant in nearby Nemanjine.

Author's imageSebastiaan Janssen, Netherlandsfrom Facebook

Eco hostel Republik Užice is a thematic hostel conceptualized on the idea of protecting and preserving the environment and saving energy and natural resources.

Also designed in the retro style of times past when Republic Užice was only free territory during the Second World War.

The very new specific hostel is equipped with all the necessary facilities for pleasant stay. It is located close to the city center, the bus and train station with good traffic connections.

A friendly and welcoming staff led by manager Marko who is licensed tour guide is at your disposal 24 hours.

Eco hostel Republik Užice is very well starting point for exploring and visiting the beauty and nature of Western Serbia.

What should not be missed.

You can smell the expansions of Zlatibor, intermittent by pines, which are subordinated to visitors and offer entertainment to everyone.

The powerful and capricious Drina flows down the trail of its raftsmen, alluring heavenly beauty of the fairy-tale Tara Mountain areas hang above it.

The narrow gauge railway of Šargan meanders in the figure of eight, thus embracing the magical Wooden Town (Drvengrad).

There are national masonry of Sirogojno pursues tradition, the Kremna mistery in the village of prophets, centuries of pottery skills in Zlakusa, the link between the present and the past in the skyscrapers of Užice.

The food from this region is of exceptional quality.
You can taste the most delicious polenta, a flat bread ”with everything on it“, ”Užička lepinja” (flatbread made with kaymak, egg and gravy), “Gibanica” cheese pie – all served with domestic sour milk, Zlatibor beef prosciutto, Gastronomic delicacy – roast meat, and a traditional snack.

A little cheese, a little prosciutto, a few slices of Uzice bacon, several sausage rings, a handful of pork scratchings, cornbread and curd, a bottle of old double-distilled homemade Rakia …
This is called a good snack, which is generally accompanied by lively friends and flowing conversation…

A good meal is one that satisfies all the senses.

When you eat, there is no hurry…

Friendly people, natural beauty, delicious foods conquered and charmed me.

I can’t wait to find time to visit this place again and of course Eco hostel Republik Užice .
